Just found out that my niece, who is in the fourth grade of elementary school, was slapped by her teacher at school. It has been a few months and there is no way to pursue the matter. But this thing is really disgusting. Although corporal punishment is prohibited by law, it is still common. There is really very little that an individual can do, and there is a deep sense of powerlessness. Perhaps this situation, and you-know-what situations, can be avoided only if the whole society reaches a consensus.
